Many of you were saddened by our recent changes to the way TrapCall handles your voicemail as we cut back our free Fly Trap features. We never take for granted the commitment we’ve made with TrapCall, to every one of our users, but we were a little amazed at the overwhelming response, generating hundreds of thousands of signups in such a short amount of time. As we note in the signup process, the free Fly Trap account does have certain limitations, carrier voicemail being one of them. We’ve now realized that this fact was not clearly indicated on our site. For those of you who would still like carrier voicemail or visual voicemail support, we’ve tried to make the costs as absolutely minimal as possible, by pricing this feature at under 10 cents a day.
Please understand that we did not mean to pull the rug out from underneath you by making these changes to your voicemail so quickly. We failed to properly communicate that the changes would only effect a small portion of our users immediately. We’ve now realized we need to allow more time communicating changes to our users, and do it more transparently, which is why we now have a policy of emailing users at least 5 business days in advance of any important changes to your TrapCall plan, to avoid the “zero notice” feedback we received.
We also experienced some unexpected downtime on our toll-free number and our new voicemail access number shortly after these changes. Additionally, these issues occurred while some of our staff was on Passover holiday. We just couldn’t catch a break.
It’s very clear we have a lot of work to do to keep everything running smoothly and everybody happy. We’re focusing now on making our TrapCall beta more reliable for all of you, as we value you so much, and we’ll keep everyone updated as we make progress. Thank you so much for your continued support of TrapCall while we’re still in our beta stage!
Update: For more information on conditional call-forwarding and how TrapCall handles your voicemail, you can head over to the section on our FAQs page for more details.

Been on Bear Trap and haven’t had any issues except when it was down for a minute. Caught quite a few people over the past couple months with this Service.
The new info on conditional call forwarding is a good bit of info. Didnt realize why my unanswerd calls we’re going to you as well as the calls I was unblocking. The ads aren’t that bad but I haven’t been interested in any of them. But do what you gotta do, cuz I like the unblocking.
I just wanted to tell you all that you are great. I just got the proof I needed to catch my husband. Thank you so much!
You’re husband is my dream guy so you can’t have him back!
I’m very confused. I missed a ton of calls and then figured out they were in your voicemail. I removed trapcall from my iPhone so that I could get back to ground zero. I am happy to pay for a plan, but I am still confused: if I just want to see who is calling me via a blocked call AND I want to use my carrier’s (ATT) voicemail so I can see my voicemail on my iPhone, which plan do I use? Is there one? It’s unclear what you mean by “web based voicemail”.
Thank you.
Liz, sorry for the confusion. The Bug Trap plan enables carrier voicemail (AT&T in your case).
Just wanted to say that i love your service. My phone battery dies quite often, and its really great to log into my trapcall account and see who called me when my phone was off even if they dont leave a voicemail. Also having the persons name and info text messaged to my phone is fantastic!
But the number one thing that i love is not the unblocking of calls… its the voicemail transcription! It is so awesome that i dont even listen to my voicemails, i just read the text message! Love it love it love it!
Don’t get me wrong by the way. I love the service.. I like how it stores everything online so I can check later. Its just that I don’t like the new voicemail thing.. However If you trap call would accept pay pal in the future I would totally upgrade my plan.
I would upgrade to if they offered paypal support as personally I do not have a credit card.
get a prepaid credit card, you can pick em up at wal-mart, cvs, target, or those little bootleg check cashing places.
You can download the paypal plug in and paypal can generate a secure card for you–it works just like a master card
I solved my problem above cancelled and resigned up. now how do I enable carrier AT&T voicemail as per admin answer to Liz 4/29/2009 at 9:17 PM thanks
Why does it ask for mailbox number when I call voicemail number? I did change my password, does that have anything to do w it?
If you block your caller ID it won’t know you’re calling from your cellphone so it asks for your “mailbox number”, i.e. your 10 digit cellphone number.
I signed up for the “fly trap” package…which is stated to be free of charge. But does that mean that I am not liable for any charges? Can my carrier charge me for having this plan? Since all my vmails are forwarded to this new plan, then does that mean that my vmails are being heard by someone else?
Please visit http://www.trapcall.com/learnmore#callforwarding regarding standard airtime charges your telco may charge you for using our service regardless of what plan you are on. And no, we do not listen to voicemails except for customers who are on Mouse/BearTrap and have transcriptions enabled, we have to listen to them to transcribe them, FlyTrap does not have transcriptions and thus no one is listening to your voicemails.
Well, I’ve been doing to the conditional call forwarding and the trapcall works just find, until it stopped working. Now when I hit the ignore button, it terminates the call. No unblocked number or voicemail.
Please remove above comment. It’s working now.
thanks.
I Want to get Trapcall for my cell phone.
My cell phone provider is PetroPCS In Florida area code (352),
When signing up it showed my number was able to do it.
But when finishing the signup it said they do not support my carrier at this time.
Does anyone else have a working METRO PCS Trap Call Account?
And how can i get mine to work?
Thanks – Matt
really wish this worked for sprint
i really need to unmask my blocked calls
i never get the email confirmation code!! what do i do??
It is not in your email! Its in your voicemail!!!
I downloaded the flytrap package onto my phone and when i get a withheld call, I ignore it, and it ends the call and I get a text message with the unmasked number. Why doesn’t the call come back with the unmasked number like the plan said it would?
We are aware of an issue where some users are not getting the call returned when using our 866-967-6590 number. Please reprogram your phone by dialing ##004# SEND and *004*18884706659*11# SEND. 888-470-6659 is our new toll free number that works for users who are experiencing the issue you describe.
PayPal would be good for sure.
You can download the paypal plug in and paypal can generate a secure card for you–it works just like a master card
hello i have a quick question is there any plan that i can get that will not record my voicemail in your server i want to keep using att visual voicemail for iphone. i do understand that fly trap will allow me to do that but i dont want my voicemail in ur server nor im intrested in any voice mail sevice though trapcall just to unblock calls. thanks in advanced
I signed up for Trap call right after i got 2 annoying blocked phone calls from a certain someone..
wow i wish i had signed up earlier that day so i would have known who was the one to leave me such a weird voiicemail.. anyways, thankyou so much TRAP CALL your service is the best!!!! Now, i shall know who randomly calls me from time to time..
AND I HAVE A QUESTION, IS THERE ANYWAY I CAN FIND OUT IF SOMEONE I KNOW HAS TRAP CALL?
LIKE IF I TYPE IN THEIR NUMBER AND KNOW IF THEY HAVE IT WITHOUT THEM TELLING ME?
When is trapcall going to be abvailable for Metro PSC?
I have a question to how long is the mins that somebody has to record a voicemal to me? I have the fly trap free service and I wanted to know since I got a voicemail and I was listening to them and they cut off in the middle of a sentence I thought was very odd.
Currently FlyTrap voicemail is restricted to 30 second messages.
How long does it take for a transcription notice? We tested a call about two hours ago and no notice yet
It should only take about 5 minutes to 30 minutes maximum. Please e-mail support@trapcall.com if you are having difficulties or visit us in Live Chat on our website Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm EDT.
I canceled the my trapcall service and now my old voicemail is disabled. When somebody calls my phone instead of being sent to a voicmail they get a busy signal. How can I fix this. I am missing important phone calls. Anybody?
As per the cancellation instructions, you need to disable the call forwarding to our number. If on Verizon just dial *73 SEND, if AT&T/T-mobile dial ##004# SEND
Hi,
Trap call is great. I just wanted to know if there is a way to know that a certain # is using trap call. I want to call someone private but I don’t want them to know my information. It’s kinda personal. Nothing serious or offfensive for the other person. Please let me know. Thanks so much
No, there is no way to know if someone is using TrapCall or not, even if you did, there’s no guarantee they wouldn’t be using a different service such as their own toll-free number to trap your number. If you want to place a truly anonymous call to someone we suggest using our sister product, SpoofCard at http://www.spoofcard.com, which allows you to send any number you wish as Caller ID.
I have TrapCall on my cell already and really appreciate it. I am trying to catch my cheating husband and want to know if I can add TrapCall to his phone without him finding out. His phone is in my name.
I signed up for this service yesterday. I signed up for the $10/month service. I have been trying to test this out with my girlfriend (she has been calling me blocked from her number) with no success. the first number I used was 866-967-6590, but the blocked calls were not being returned to my phone unmasked. Instead, when i hit the ignore button on my phone, the other person who is calling me (girlfriend calling from blocked phone) gets a busy signal. Then, I reprogrammed my phone with *004*18884706659*11# and this time the blocked caller (aka girlfriend) gets a message “this number is not in service” instead of the busy signal as stated before. Please help! i have tmobile, im not on any family plan or flex pay, and the phone itself is a blackberry 8700g, locked. i thought that unlocking it might help, so i called tmobile and am currently awaiting that to be done.
Most likely you dialed the 2nd code wrong and are sending calls to a disconnected number. Try dialing ##004# SEND then *004*1-888-470-6659*11# SEND. Remember, TrapCall is *NOT* Software, it just uses conditional call forwarding feature already available on your phone, no need to unlock or anything like that.
so i still don’t get the whole thing about the trapcall voicemail, why can’t i use my normal voicemail?
You can use your carrier’s voicemail with TrapCall, simply upgrade to BugTrap.
With Flytrap you will retrieve your voicemails through our voicemail system by dialing 509 554 5555. Should you need to use your carrier voicemail you can simply upgrade your plan to BugTrap. FlyTrap is the free service it’s funded by our sponsors (you will get a brief message when you access your voicemail). BugTrap is advertisement free and therefore does not require our voicemail system. Bug Trap is only $2.95 a month. That’s less then a dime a day for the convenience of using TrapCall seemlessly with your carrier’s voicemail.
Hello,
Quick question, I get blocked calls from someone at around 9pm at night, now if I program my phone by sending or dialing this “*004*18669676590*11# ” it will program my phone and all voicemail’s made will be sent to your server, now lets say after 9pm I want to unprogram the phone i just dial/send “##004#” and then after all voicemails left will be sent to my original carrier voicemail number without being sent to your server or to you, because I only need to program my phone at or around 9pm thats when people are bothering me, but after that if I dial/send ##004# all forwarding call numbers will be disabled, because I dont wanna lose my business voicemails the next day but i do not mind around the 9pm time.
Yes that would work, however it may be simpler just to upgrade to BugTrap in case you forget to turn TrapCall off.
Say I decide to stop using the Trapcall service, if I were to cancel the service and dial ##004# send (I have an ATT phone), would my voicemail be set back to it’s original forwarding number or just turn up blank?
Dialing ##004# SEND resets your phone back to forwarding to your carrier voicemail, but you do not need to do that if you wish to have TrapCall AND Carrier voicemail, you can get both by simply upgrading to BugTrap!
well i had alot of crazy phone calls calling me from sun up to down and i did not know why they was doing it so i got trap calls the free one. and it was some one in my family now that was crazy thank you trap calls please keep ur services up and running
I have had call trap for a while now. When i first signed up I got all my voicemails except the ones that i clicked ignore on my phone for which was no problem. But it is slightly annoying that now ALL of my calls are being forwarded to somewhere else. I altered my settings were only the busy ones would go to the Trap call system. But for months now i haven’t gotten a single voicemail on my phone and I have personal business as well as very important calls coming to me that I no longer can access through my own phone or voicemail. I get no notifications anymore on having them. I do not always have access to the internet to check my email telling me to call Trap calls number to get my voicemail. I didn’t ask for a voicemail service only to unblock numbers. Is there a way i can get control of my voicemail again without paying for it? I already pay for a service through my cellphone. I shouldnt have to pay to access something i already pay for. It’s inconvenient for me and not helping me at all. I have missed several extremely time sensitive calls because of this.
TrapCall works by conditionally call forwarding ALL of your unanswered calls to our service where we can unmask the number. Yes, the free FlyTrap does NOT come with carrier voicemail as stated on our website at signup. FlyTrap is our free service and is funded by our sponsors and this is why you must use our ad-based hosted voicemail system on the free package. BugTrap, as with all of our packages, is only $2.95/month. This not only gives you carrier voicemail back, but also the ability to unmask calls, blacklist callers and toll-free tech support should you need it, and it’s advertisement-free. BugTrap is less then 10 cents per day for the convenience of using TrapCall and your carrier’s voicemail, you’re not paying for ‘something you already have’, you’re paying for TrapCall. And if you don’t want TrapCall any more, all you have to do is log in to your account and click the cancel button and follow the instructions to unprogram your phone and delete your account with us.
i have at&t phone and everytime i put the ##004# like it says to. It wont work on me, it would say deactivated what do i do ?
I used the free trial and it worked very well, but I was wondering is there a way to know if someone else is using the system or no ? For example is there a way for someone to know if I’m using trap a call or not ?
I spent a year trying to get a restricted number from my cell. The caller would call all times of the day for a year on and off saying horrible nasty things. After a long search I came across your company and decided to do the bear trap, you can’t beat that price. I GOT HIM!!!! It was a number from half way across the country that turned out to be the past principal of my son’s old school that i complained about and pushed to get fired cause I knew there was something wrong with him. Well a year after him harrassing me, I got him!!! Can’t wait to take my proof to his district and get him away from being in charge of a kids school. I can’t thank you enough for putting something like this in place, even verizon or our local authorities couldn’t help me, I would have paid 10 times the amount to get the info I was able to get by signing up. Thanks again!!!!!
I used the trapcall system and it was working, but now that i switched SIM cards it wouldnt work anymore
Hi Alex,
If a SIM is removed from the phone then TrapCall must be reprogrammed again. You can get the re-programming codes by logging in to your TrapCall account and visiting the Phone Settings link under the Settings page within our online control panel!
I never received any emails letting me know that T/C would not be handling my voicemail’s. is it possible to keep the call unmasking feature and have my voicemail’s go thru att
Robert – “Carrier Voicemail” is not supported on the free Try Trap plan as indicated on the Sign Up page. The call unmasking feature and voicemail support are available on the Bug Trap plan. We apologize for any confusion!
I need to know how to reactivate my account that i deleted it continues to say that the number is already registered please help asap thanks
I have free trap call and when people call me and i dont answer it doesnt go to a voicemail it jus has a busy signal?????
I recently had trapcall on my phone before i had my number changed i tried to sign up again with new number but i have always had a problem recieving a code to my voicemail to activate it. i usually chat with a live rep but i no longer see that option.
